Overview
The Gandhara Civilization flourished between the 1st century BCE and the 7th century CE and is renowned for its distinctive fusion of Hellenistic and Buddhist art. Saad Zahid has explored the heritage of this ancient culture in regions such as Taxila, Mardan, Swat, and Peshawar. His work includes documentation of monasteries, stupas, and sculptures that depict scenes from the life of the Buddha. Found mostly in northern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, these sites highlight the era when Buddhism thrived in this region and contributed richly to art, learning, and religion.
